i try pretty hard not to get into political discussions especially in regards to the subject of illegal immigration. i don't disagree that it's a problem and one that needs to be addressed, but we're talking about human beings not roaches. and yes, some of those people are criminals... i should know, my dad is a legal citizen and has a high school diploma thanks to our lovely jail system. yeah, i don't get that one either.
but the point was the use in "undocumented workers" and it's "political correctness". the term undocumented isn't out there to help you empathize with the immigrants plight. it's used because they're unsure as to whether or not someone ran the border without inspection or simply overstayed their visit.
"Undocumented: the term used to describe foreign nationals who are present in the U.S. without lawful status. The term can refer to those who entered the U.S. without inspection (by crossing the border), those who overstayed their allotted time here, or those who violated the terms of their legal status. With very limited exceptions (notably asylum and immediate relatives of U.S. citizen petitions) a person who is not in lawful status in the U.S. cannot change from being in the U.S. unlawfully to being here lawfully."
i think it's important to remember that we're talking about human beings and i know that concept is difficult for a lot of people. you're view may be that these illegals are stealing your jobs, raping your women, using your taxes, changing your culture and invading the whole of your world and wrong as that may be i would rather increase my taxes and give them a nice place to live than use my tax dollars to kick them back into their own country. what? you thought they'd stay put?
the sad thing is that in kicking out those horrible illegal criminals you run the risk of even more death, illness or murder. the real criminals, like the ones in jail now, are the ones i'd like to keep track of. because if they're anything like my father...they should NEVER be let out.
i guarantee that if you knew someone who was undocumented, someone who's company you enjoy and someone who you know full well pays taxes and lives their lives in a lawful and meaningful way while doing everything in their power to change their status you might have a different take on things.
as far as fining business' hard... well, personally i'm tired of paying through the nose for everything and doing that will make our everyday lives even more difficult. at least mine. i can barely afford to buy food as it is.
thanks for voicing your opinion. it was a great subject! :)
